As previously communicated, acreage and membership fees have changed. The CSGA Membership Fee is now $200 per member and the Acreage Fee is $0.98 for conventional crops and $1.00 for hybrid crops. These fees were approved at the 2016 CSGA Annual General Meeting.
Further to recent recommendations of the Standards and Circular 6 Committee, changes have been made to Circular 6 and posted to our Website. They include: new maximum impurity standards for all wheat types (durum not included), new maximum impurity standards for bean, chickpea, fababean, lentil, lupin, peas, and changes to industrial hemp production requirements. For more information, please follow the Notice of Changes link.
If you need to locate an authorized seed crop inspection service, please use our interactive Contact an Inspection Service tool. We would like to notify members that Farmers Edge is no longer conducting seed crop inspections this year. Please note that all hybrid rye crops must be inspected by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, in addition to all seed destined for the European Union as Pre-Basic/Basic.

Reminder to Select, Foundation and Probationary Plot Growers to Submit an Official Seed Sample for Variety Verification
This is a reminder that you are required to submit a seed sample for variety verification for each plot that you produced in 2016. If you have not already done so, please submit a sample to the Variety Verification Program at CFIA as soon as possible. The samples will be planted as soon as conditions are favorable and CFIA staff need the samples as early as possible to complete their production. Sample bags were distributed last fall. If you need additional sample bags, please contact the CSGA office at 613-236-0497, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact us through the chat feature of our website www.seedgrowers.ca.
Samples should be sent to:
Canadian Food Inspection Agency
CFIA Seed Section Unit
Ottawa Plant Laboratory (Fallowfield)
Floor 2, 3851 Fallowfield Road
Nepean, ON K2J 4S1
One CSGA Form 50 is required per variety and can be submitted electronically by logging into the Member Area of the CSGA website. If you would prefer to complete and submit a paper copy of the Form 50, it can be found on the CSGA website. Please do not include the Form 50 with your sample as the form goes to CSGA whereas the sample goes to CFIA. A crop certificate will not be issued until a seed sample is received by CFIA and a Form 50 is completed.Back to top
