Joe Rennick – 2025 Robertson Associate Award Recipient
Joe Rennick, a pedigreed seed grower from Milestone, Saskatchewan, has dedicated his life to advancing the Canadian seed sector with unwavering commitment and leadership.
Born and raised on the family farm, Joe represents the third generation of his family to be involved in seed production. Alongside his wife, Bernadette, and their family, he operates a seed farm and a Registered Seed Establishment in Milestone. He is also a shareholder in Emerald Seed Products, a fenugreek extraction plant in Avonlea, Saskatchewan.
Joe and Bernadette recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, a milestone that reflects their enduring partnership in both life and business. Together, they have raised three daughters and one son, and they take great joy in their 11 grandchildren. Family remains at the heart of everything Joe does, and now retired, he treasures his morning coffees, gathering the whole family together, and spending time walleye fishing with fellow seed growers and good neighbours. Whether casting a line or simply watching the ducks in the pond, Joe enjoys the simple pleasures of farm life while the younger generation takes care of the fields.
A Canadian Seed Growers’ Association (CSGA) Accredited Plot Grower, Joe has been a steadfast supporter of the Association for well over three decades. He holds his 35-year Membership Long Service Award and has served in leadership roles at both the provincial and national levels for more than 20 years. Joe was the President of the Saskatchewan Seed Growers’ Association from 2007 to 2008 before joining the CSGA Board, where he served for 15 years, including as President from 2020 to 2022. As his term as Past President concluded in 2024, Joe leaves behind a legacy of dedication, support for the Canadian seed sector, and a lasting impact on the industry.
Beyond his contributions to agriculture, Joe is deeply involved in his community. He has been a long-time member of the Milestone Prairie Players, an award-winning acting group, as well as the Milestone Elks, the Milestone Masonic Lodge, and the WaWa Shriners.
