CSGA Wins National Award for Excellence in Organizational Governance

November 19, 2025

A milestone moment for our members, our Board, and Canada’s seed system

We are proud to share that the Canadian Seed Growers’ Association (CSGA) has been awarded the 2025 Organizational Governance Award by the Governance Professionals of Canada (GPC). This national honour recognizes organizations that demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, and integrity in governance across all sectors.

Executive Director Doug Miller, President Glenn Logan, Director Carl Bolton and COO Caroline Lafontaine

The award endorses the transformational governance renewal CSGA has undertaken over the past two years, rooted in transparency, inclusivity, accountability, and service to Canada’s seed system. What began as an ambitious modernization effort evolved into a comprehensive renewal that strengthened our foundation and positioned CSGA for the future.

The GPC judges highlighted the depth and impact of CSGA’s work, commending:

  • Modernization of governance tools, policies, and Board resources
  • Clearer roles and strengthened accountability at every level
  • A successful national consultation and By law amendment that broadened membership to the full seed certification community
  • A collaborative process that engaged members, branches, and stakeholders throughout

We invite you to read the full write-up from the GPC judges, including their detailed assessment of CSGA’s governance renewal, in the 2025 Judges’ Report.

This achievement reflects the exceptional leadership and dedication of the CSGA Governance Committee, whose members Glenn Logan (Chair), Andrew Ayre, Carl Bolton, and Roy Klym provided vision, diligence, and deep commitment throughout the renewal. Their stewardship, supported by our Board, staff, and external advisors, ensured that the process remained principled, inclusive, and aligned with CSGA’s long term goals.

“Strong governance sustains organizational strength, ensures accountability, supports an effective Board, and builds confidence among members and stakeholders. For CSGA, it creates a system that reflects the professionalism, inclusivity, and resilience of Canada’s seed growers, enabling us to lead proactively through change.”
