The CFIA has 52 SRM proposals out for feedback (open until Oct 3).
We support: CSGA taking on more day-to-day administration activities, creation of a Seed Sector Advisory Committee, using Incorporation by Reference, and red tape reduction.
Key gaps remain: the CFIA taking on more with potentially fewer resources (risk of delays), national plan to monitor certified seed volumes, & over-regulation where flexible policy would suffice.
We are calling for more strategic delegation of key functions, addressing gaps that undermine the integrity of our system reporting & smart, flexible regulation to build a faster, fairer, future-ready seed system. Read more here.
